Email and SMS Opt-Outs No Longer Remove Talent from Pool
Opting out of texts only stops texts, and unsubscribing from email only stops email. Neither one removes a person from Pool.
An applicant who declined marketing texts was marked ineligible for Pool entirely. They dropped out of every audience and missed email campaigns too, even though they never opted out of email.
What's new
Eligibility and contactability are separate — your Talent eligibility rules decide who belongs in Pool, and contactability tracks whether each person can be emailed and whether they can be texted.
Opt-outs stay on their own channel — declining marketing texts, opting out of texts in Hire, or replying STOP to a Pool text stops SMS only. Unsubscribing from a Pool email stops email only.
Contactability on profiles and the talent table — the talent profile shows email and SMS status separately from eligibility, and the talent table adds Email and SMS columns and contactability filters.
Campaigns check contactability at send — an SMS campaign skips people who can't be texted, and an email campaign skips people who can't be emailed.
Why it matters
Pool keeps the people it exists to re-engage. Someone who said no to texts can still hear from you by email, and every opt-out is honored exactly as given.
What to expect
Talent counts and dynamic audiences can grow as people who were excluded only because of a text or email opt-out return to Pool. Email campaigns with dynamic audiences, including live ones, can reach more people, so review your active email campaigns. SMS reach doesn't change: anyone who opted out of texts still won't get them. Pool campaigns count as marketing messages, and opting out of a channel never changes an applicant's status in Hire.
