Unverified I-9 Documents Appear in the Blocked Stage
I-9 profiles carrying an Unable to verify document verification result appear in the Blocked stage.
An Unable to verify result could sit alongside an Employment authorized status, so a profile looked resolved even though its documents still warranted review. Finding those exceptions meant opening profiles one at a time, reading a report, or asking Support.
What's new
A clearer exception queue — profiles with an Unable to verify result are grouped under Blocked, alongside other I-9 exceptions.
Faster triage — the profiles that need review are identifiable without inspecting each one.
Clearer status separation — Unable to verify is a document verification result, not an E-Verify status.
Why it matters
A compliance exception that looks resolved is worse than one that looks unresolved, because nobody goes looking for it. Putting these profiles in a queue makes the review deliberate.
What to expect
Unable to verify does not mean a document is invalid or that a worker is ineligible. Some valid document types fall outside automated verification, or call for manual review.
