Configurable Default Limit Access for Openings

DATE:
AUTHOR: The Fountain team

Accounts can now set their own default for the 'Limit Access' checkbox on new Openings. It's a default, not a lock — whoever creates an Opening can still override it.

Previously, the 'Limit Access' default was fixed to ON — every new Opening was limited-access unless the creator unchecked it. This didn't suit accounts that want Openings broadly accessible by default, forcing them to uncheck the box on every new Opening.

What's new

  • New company-setting toggle — "Default Limit Access for new Openings" in the Openings settings section

  • New Openings pre-populate from this default; the creator can still override it per Opening

  • Defaults to ON — matching today's behavior, so enabling the feature changes nothing until an account adjusts it

  • No impact on existing Openings — only newly created Openings are affected

  • Audit log — changes to the setting are recorded with actor, timestamp, and old/new value

Why it matters

Some customers want Openings limited by default for access control; others want them broadly accessible and were forced to uncheck the box on every new Opening. This gives each account control over its own default, in either direction, while keeping the per-Opening override.
