New in ATS | incoming application message translation

DATE:
AUTHOR: The Fountain team

Read every applicant message in your own language — automatically.

Fountain now translates incoming applicant messages into the recruiter’s profile language inside the Applicant Profile Messages tab. Outgoing recruiter-to-applicant messages were already translated; this release closes the loop and makes SMS conversations two-way across languages.

What’s new

  • Incoming messages from applicants are displayed in the recruiter’s profile language by default. No setup, no per-thread toggle, no language selection — translation happens on render.

  • Per-viewer rendering means two recruiters viewing the same thread in different profile languages each see it in their own language. The underlying applicant message is unchanged.

  • Multi-language threads are handled message-by-message. If an applicant sends some messages in Spanish and others in English while the recruiter’s profile is in French, only the non-French messages are translated and labeled.

Why it matters

Until now, recruiters could send a translated message but the reply came back in the applicant’s language only. Anyone who didn’t read that language pasted the text into a translation engine. With incoming translation live, the Messages tab becomes a true two-way SMS surface across every language pair Fountain supports.

What to expect

  • No configuration changes — translation activates on render once the feature is enabled on your account.

  • Message timestamps and threading remain unchanged.
