New in Shift | Smart Search for Scheduling

AUTHOR: The Fountain team

We’ve improved schedule management in Shift with Smart Search.

Users can now filter schedules using specific shift criteria, making it easier to focus on the shifts that need attention.

What’s new in Shift

Smart Search for scheduling

You can now filter your schedule using Smart Search to quickly surface specific shifts based on:

  • Shift job

  • Shift start and/or end times

  • Assignment status

  • Assigned worker

  • Publishing status

Instead of scanning an entire schedule view, users can narrow their view to exactly what they need to review or update.

Shift status spotlight replaced

The previous shift status spotlight menu has been removed.

Shift status filtering is now handled directly through Smart Search, providing a more flexible and centralized filtering experience.

Customer impact

This update helps teams:

  • Manage high-volume schedules more efficiently

  • Reduce time spent manually scanning schedules

  • Focus on specific shift groups that require action

  • Maintain and update schedules with greater speed and clarity

For operations teams managing large workforces, this creates a more streamlined day-to-day scheduling workflow.

Who this is for

Operations managers, schedulers, and admins using Shift to build and maintain schedules.

Availability

This feature went GA on March 5, 2026 and is available to all Shift users.
