New in Shift | Worker Portal Break Countdown Improvements

The Worker Portal break timer has been updated to provide a more accurate and intuitive countdown experience.

What’s changed

Countdown now based on break duration

The break countdown timer now references the scheduled break duration rather than the scheduled break end time.

Fix for early break starts

Previously, if a worker began a scheduled 30-minute break early, the countdown could display more than 30 minutes remaining because it was tied to the scheduled end time.

Now, the timer reflects the scheduled break length from the moment the break starts.

Customer impact

Workers will now see an accurate countdown timer that aligns with the intended length of their scheduled break — even if they start it earlier than planned.

This improves clarity in the Worker Portal and removes confusion around break timing.
