Reverification Methods for Every I-9 Center Customer

I-9 Center admins choose which reverification methods their organization offers, and workers can complete reverification without an office visit.

Remote reverification was a single on/off switch, so an employer that accepted some methods but not others had no way to say so, and many reverifications still meant a trip to an office.

What's new

• Choose your methods — in I-9 Center settings, turn on Reverification and pick the methods workers are offered: Authorized representative, on-site verification or live video verification.

• Reverification in the worker's task list — when a document needs reverifying, the worker sees Reverification required on their I-9 and chooses from the methods you offer.

• Authorized representative review — the worker uploads their new document and texts a link to someone they choose, such as a family member. That person meets them in person, checks the documents and signs Supplement B from their own phone.

• Record updated automatically — once the representative signs, the I-9 record shows the new expiration date and an audit trail, with no admin step.

• Notifications and reminders — notify workers by email or SMS with a message you can customize, and send reminders every few days until reverification is complete or the I-9 expires.

• Existing settings carry over — if you already use remote reverification, it keeps working as it does today.

Why it matters

Workers with an expiring work authorization stay compliant without a trip to an office, employers offer only the methods they accept, and admins don't have to chase paperwork.

What to expect

The setting is off by default. Nothing changes until an admin turns on Reverification and chooses the methods to offer. On-site and live video verification need at least one calendar group set up first. The person a worker chooses as their authorized representative must be 18 or older and have their own smartphone. Admins can always reverify a worker's documents themselves from the worker's I-9 page.
