Sam browser voice calls
Sam now supports browser-based voice calls — workers join via a browser link instead of receiving a phone call, with a built-in fallback to request a phone call for poor connectivity.
Placing a phone call as the default for Sam conversations created friction in international markets, regions with poor telephony, and for customers paying per-minute telephony costs.
What's new
Web-first calling — workers join a Sam voice conversation by clicking a link in email/SMS; no phone required
Phone fallback — if the worker has poor connectivity or denies microphone permission, they can request a PSTN phone call instead
Single CTA — one link in email/SMS routes the worker into the full browser-based call experience
Operational benefits — reduced telephony cost on the web path, closed captions support, global availability without phone-number dependency
Why it matters
Workers in international markets or areas with unreliable telephony couldn't consistently complete phone-based Sam calls. Browser calling makes Sam accessible globally while reducing telephony costs for customers using web-first flows.
