Search Applicants by Data Keys
The universal applicant search bar now supports finding applicants by up to three custom data keys — such as employee IDs, government/tax IDs, or certification numbers — in addition to name, email, and phone.
Previously, universal applicant search was limited to name, email, and phone number. Enterprises that identify applicants by their own reference codes were forced to use slow workarounds, especially in high-volume settings like in-person hiring drives.
What's new
Search by custom data keys — admins select up to 3 text-type data keys per account to make searchable from the universal search bar
Enable in Company Settings → Applicant Search Settings → "Search by Custom Data Keys" → Add data key
No change for applicants — this is a search-side enhancement only
Why it matters
Many enterprises identify applicants by their own reference codes — employee IDs, government/tax IDs, certification numbers. Restricting search to name/email/phone forced slow workarounds, especially at in-person hiring events. Admins choose exactly which keys are searchable, keeping search focused.

Available to all Hire customers.
