Turn a Campaign Button Click Into an Audience

DATE:
AUTHOR: The Fountain team

A campaign button can now write a value to a talent attribute when someone clicks it, so the people who clicked become an audience you can send to.

A button told you the total. If a hundred people clicked “Yes, I'm interested,” you knew a hundred people were interested and had no way to reach those hundred specifically. The intent was the most valuable thing the campaign produced, and it stopped at a number.

What's new

  • A write attribute outcome on Collect data buttons — Configure a button as a Collect data type, set its outcome to write an attribute, then choose the attribute key and the value to set. Everyone who clicks has that value written to their record.

  • Choose how multiple records are treated — Where a talent has more than one matching record, write the value to all of them or only to the most recently created one.

  • Immediately usable as a segment — The written attribute behaves like any other talent attribute, so an audience of everyone who clicked can be built straight away.

  • A confirmation message for the recipient — Clicking opens a confirmation window with the message you write.

Why it matters

Someone raising their hand is the strongest signal a talent pool produces, and it used to evaporate on contact. Writing it to the record means the follow-up campaign can go to the people who actually said yes, rather than to the audience you sent the first one to.

What to expect

The button's label is recorded as the answer, so label it as the response you want to capture. Attribute values follow existing talent-attribute typing and permission rules. Existing campaigns and their buttons are unchanged. Link to and Connect webhook buttons behave exactly as before.
